Velda M. Allison, age 94, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at her home in Rochelle. She was born on October 22, 1917 in Rural Forreston, IL, the daughter of Harry B. and Ida M. Paul Walb. She married George W. Allison on October 24, 1942 in Rockford, IL, he preceded her on September 4, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her infant son: Hal Allison; her 2 sisters: Mildred Hoyle and twin sister: Vera Dailey, and brother: Melvin Walb. Velda loved life, family and friends. She worked as a beautician and was very active with her husband, both enjoying golfing and time with friends at the Rochelle Country Club. She was an auxiliary member of the V.F.W. Post 3978.
Survivors include her son: Noel (Margaret ?Peg?) Allison of Rochelle, 2 grandchildren: Margaret (Mike) Rauber of DuBai, UAE; and David (Kalah) Williams of Rochelle, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle with Rev. Cindy Marino officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 - 7 at Unger-Horner. Burial at the Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials to United Methodist church or Serenity Hospice and Home.
