A hero passed away today. On the morning of Sept. 12, 2010, Tim Hammonds Jr suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. For those of us lucky enough to know Tim, we will forever remember him as a big man with an even bigger heart. He was an inspiration to all he encountered and will be sorely missed. Tim was born on July 20, 1975 in St. Charles, IL to Timothy Wayne Hammonds and Margaret Laura Boerema. He married Melissa Michelle Cantrell on Jan. 6, 2006 in Dixon, IL. Memberships include: St. John Lutheran Church in Ashton; Ashton Lion's Club, Hub City Cruisers and Merchants of Rochelle. He was the owner of Performance Paints and Powder in Rochelle.

Survivors include his wife: Melissa of Ashton; 3 children: Damon Rutledge age 11, Elysia Rutledge age 7 and Drake Hammonds age 4; parents: Margaret (Robert) Streit of Esmond and Timothy Hammonds; grandmother: Maggie Tucker of Independence, Mo; 3 brothers: Lucas (Rachel) Streit of Dixon, Sonny (Mallory) Streit of Esmond, and Charlie Streit of Esmond; Sister: Maggie Streit of Esmond; and more friends and family than could ever be listed.

Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Ashton, IL on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jonathan Black. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 15th from 4 to 8 PM at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Cremation rites will follow the services. If you would like to support his family, please make a monetary contribution in place of flowers to the Family of Timothy Hammonds and an account has also been established at the Lincoln State Bank.
