STILLMAN VALLEY - Tena H. Brass-Mowers, 94, died Thursday August 5, 2010 in Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris. Born January 15, 1916 in Byron the daughter of Ben H. and Annie (Ennenga) Hillers. Married to John A. Brass August 23, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa; he died Nov. 20, 1981. Then married Amos Mowers April 30, 1986 in Freeport; he died Jan 18, 2007. Tena lived most of her life in Marion Township prior to moviug to Oregon. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Paynes Point and Byron American Legion Auxiliary. Survived by: sons, Wilbur Brass of Monroe Center, Wayne (Denise) Brass of New Egypt, NJ and Darryl (Cindy) Brass of Moline; daughter, Mary (Thomas) King of Winona, MO; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Leslie (Phyllis) Hillers of Stillman Valley; sisters, Vera (William) Brown of Freeport and Henrietta Day of Rockford; sister-in-law, Vernice Hillers of Wisconsin; and nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by brothers, John, Henry and Herman Hillers and sister, Jennie Snodgrass. Services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday August 10 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Stillman Valley preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00am. Pastor Bob Mellon of Monroe Center Community Church will officiate. Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Paynes Point. Memorials may be made to Pinecrest Manor or Ogle County Hospice.
