Sylvester John "Bus" Falk, 96, of Byron died Friday Nov. 13, 2009 in his home. He was born May 16, 1913 in Byron, the son of Convas G. & Augusta Strang Falk. He married Edith A. Nelson in Port Alleghany, PA on Oct. 13, 1938; she died in 2001. Bus was a farm boy and oil field worker in Pennsylvania and was a butcher at Johnson & Reber Grocery Store in Byron and also a laborer foreman for Rockford Blacktop. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Connorsport, PA and Byron, IL. Edith and Bus enjoyed buying and selling antiques for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Carraher of Byron; son Virgil (Kathy) Falk of Stillman Valley; grandchildren, David (Radosava) Carraher of Elgin, William Carraher of Aurora, Gregg (Laura) Falk of Naperville, Ellen (Dan) Jennings of Stillman Valley, Ryan Bratt of Gladston, Alabama and Erin Cox of Baileyville; great grandchildren, Kristina & Taylor Carraher , Megan & Nolan Falk, Mason Jennings, Aidyn & Riley Bratt, and Devin & Mia Cox; and a great great granddaughter, Hailey Carraher. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister. Graveside memorial service, with Masonic rites, will be held at a later date in Byron Cemetery. Memorials to Ogle County Hospice. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Byron assisted the family with arrangements.
