BYRON - Roy V. Bauer, 96, of Byron, died Tuesday December 29, 2009 in Neighbors Healthcare Center, Byron. Born September 3, 1913 in Winona, Minn. the son of George and Vera L. (Gile) Bauer. Married to Helen Sloggett April 30, 1936 in Rockford; she died July 2, 2001. Roy owned and operated Forest City Home Dairy in Rockford and then moved to Loves Park changing the name to White Front Milk Depot. He then owned and operated Roy Bauer Construction for 22 years, retiring in 1976. He also farmed in the Byron area. Roy was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Byron, constructing the church building. He enjoyed fishing and was a Cubs fan. Survived by daughters, June (Don) Carlson of Machesney Park and Tricia Bauer of Byron; step-sons: Howard Rowland of California, Glenn (Helen) Rowland of Rockford and Harlan (Dixie) Rowland of Byron; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and brother, Clem Bauer of Mt. Morris. Also predeceased by: 2 grandchildren; a great grandson; sister, Dorothy Meline; and brother, Chet Bauer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday January 4 in the First Baptist Church of Byron with Pastor Randy Snider officiating. Burial in Byron Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 2:00-4:00pm in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Byron. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Byron, Ogle County Hospice or Neighbors Healthcare Center
