OREGON - Robert J. Hardesty, 90, life long Oregon area resident, died Thursday September 23, 2010 in his home. Born May 18, 1920 on Flagg Road, Ashton the son of Fred and Kathryn Campbell Hardesty. Married to Mary Louise Holm July 24, 1942 in Oregon. He was a 1938 graduate of Oregon High School, attended Lighthouse United Methodist Church and served as road commissioner for Nashua Township for many years. Bob farmed in Chana before establishing Hardesty Excavating in 1970, retiring in 2000. He especially loved flying in his airplane and travel in his motor home. Survived by his wife, Mary Louise of Oregon; sons, Mike (Julie) Hardesty and John Hardesty, both of Chana; grandchildren: Cory Beck, Danielle Hardesty, Jeremy Hardesty and Shane Engelkes; and 5 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents and sister, Phyllis. Services will be held at 12:00noon Monday September 27 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00am and followed by a luncheon gathering at Lighthouse United Methodist Church. Pastor Rich Fassig of Lighthouse United Methodist Church will officiate. Private burial in Washington Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse United Methodist Church.
