Richard F. Amundson, 56, of Stillman Valley, IL died Sunday November 14, 2010 in the Serenity Home of Ogle County Hospice in Oregon, IL. He was born Sept. 25, 1954 in Mauston, WI the son of John & Elizabeth "Betty" Kaurcia Amundson. He married Chris Wiles on June 8, 2002 in Stillman Valley. Rich was a member, and active volunteer, of the Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Church and also attended Valley Covenant Church of Stillman Valley. He was a lifetime member of the U of W Platteville Alumni Club and a member of Phi Sigma Fraternity. He was a civil engineer with Arnold Lundgren & Assoc. of Rockford, 13 years with Willet & Hoffman, and 12 years with the City of Rockford. He received the designation of ISPE of the Year in 2010, was past recipient of the Professional Engineering Management Award, and loved working with young engineers pursuing their degrees. Rich worked many years with the "Math Counts" competition at Rock Valley College and enjoyed helping the neighbor kids with their math. He was a blood donor every other month since the 1970's and also enjoyed hunting with his buddies, boating, skiing, traveling and was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. Rich was a great family man and was loved by all. Survivors include his wife Chris; children, Elizabeth (Roy Gregg) Amundson of Rockford and Shelly Nelson of Stillman Valley; step-children, Laura (Jeremiah) Whitmire and Lindsey (Karac) Kotajarvi both of Stillman Valley, and Jessica Knudson of Naperville, and her mother Janice Amundson; grandchildren, Amarri Gregg, Gavyn Nelson, Lexi Nelson, Skylar Loring, Arianna Whitmire, Kahl Kotajarvi, & Layla Knudson; his mother, Betty Amundson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; sisters, Donna (Jerry) Reichert of Rudoph, WI and Teresa (Mike) Linzmeier of Tomah, WI; brother, Jack Amundson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and his Border Collie, Angel. He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Elizabeth, and brother, Jim. Memorial service will be held Wednesday November 17, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Church, 8195 Kishwaukee Rd., Stillman Valley. Family will greet friends following the service. Burial in Kishwaukee Cemetery. Memorials to Kishwaukee Community Church Youth Outreach and Kishwaukee Cemetery Association.
