Ray Roof, design engineer at the University of Alaska's Geophysical Institute, died May 9 at his home near Fairbanks. Roof, 61, joined the faculty as an instructor of physics and geophysics in 1954. He is survived by his widow, Dr. Brina Kessel Roof, dean of the College of Biological Sciences and Renewable Resources.� �  Sisters:�  Mrs. Inez R. Hile, Hollywood.
