Mary L. "Rosemary" Amaro, 77, of Marshall passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 in Kalamazoo with her family around her.

Mary was born on August 8, 1936 in Allen, Kentucky to Jack and Lulie (Akers) Wright. She attended the Marshall public schools and graduated with the class of 1954. On April 16, 1955 she married Carlos Amaro. Carlos preceded her in death in 2002.

Rosemary retired from Schuler's Restaurant after working as a cook for 23 years. Previous jobs included her working at Marshall Brass and at State Farm in the commissary.

Rosemary was a big hearted person who had lots of love to give. Besides taking care of her own family she was also a foster parent for a total of 42 foster children. She liked collecting knick-knacks and antiques, playing bingo, going to casinos, listening to country music and watching Detroit Tiger games. Rosemary was a huge Tiger's fan! She also enjoyed being outside in her garden or fishing. Rosemary had a garden that she planted flowers and vegetables in!

She is survived by her children, Rick L. (Sharon) Amaro of Marshall, Billy R. Amaro of Marshall, and Eric J. (Stacy) Amaro of Seranac; 5 grandchildren, Rickey S. (Carol) Amaro of Battle Cree, Crystal R. (Chad) Dexter of Albion, Sarah E. (Matthew) Cascarelli of Albion, Austin J. Amaro of Albion and Johnathan Amaro of Seranac; 5 great grandsons, Corey, Cameron, and Casey Dexter of Albion, Alex Amaro of Battle Creek and Lincoln Cascarelli of Albion; an aunt, Lilly Hill of Adrian; special family and friends, Bud Howell and Debbie Reiniger, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos; her parents; sisters, Joann Taylor, Geri McGhee-Hess, and Fran Bergstresser; and brothers, Clarence and Rusty Wright (3 months old).

There will be a private family viewing. A funeral service to celebrate Rosemary's life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, 723 US 27 North, Marshall with family member, Gerald Alexandar officiating. Friends may call on the family starting at 10:00AM on Friday morning before the service. Interment will be held Monday, May 19, 2014 at 2PM at Oakridge Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Rosemary can be made out to the family to go towards her son, Billy's, welfare or to the American Lung Association.
