Lucille Batman, 86, died December 4, 2012 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born February 11, 1926 at Lexington, Mississippi, the daughter of Minnie Pearl Johnson. She married Fred Alexander. He died March 12, 1977. She then married Ralph Batman September 13, 1981 at Wilson, Kansas. Se worked for the Petroleum Club and later was co-owner and operator of R & L Pump. Mrs. Batman was a Great Bend resident since the 1940's, coming from Lexington. Lovingly known as "Memo," Mrs. Batman had a variety of jobs, yet her true calling was raising and nurturing her children and their families. She was the true matriarch of the family. Her playful, witty, and jovial personality was the perfect match to her scratch-made comfort food.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Batman, of the home; three sons: Kenneth Alexander and his wife Evelyn, Huntington Beach, California; Leon Alexander and his wife Sharon, San Diego, California; Steve Alexander, Carlsbad, California; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Alexander, Great Bend; nine grandchildren: Jill Zecha, Shane Alexander, Jodi Hembree, Heather Fuentes, Troy Alexander, Stacee Alexander, Michelle Alexander, Kimberly Alexander, and Janae Alexander; eighteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, including Arlen Johnson and Cecil Johnson; and six sisters, including Ruby, Helen, Jewell, Virginia, and Louise; and one great-granddaughter, Maria.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Gray officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.
