OREGON - Loretta F. Bacon, 88, lifelong Oregon resident, died Tuesday October 4, 2011 in her home. Born July 31, 1923 in Oregon the daughter of Ray and Addie (Helman) Lumsden. Married to Merlin "Bud" Bacon November 8, 1941 in Oregon; he died March 2, 1997. She was a graduate of Oregon High School and a member of Oregon Church of God. Loretta was a legal secretary for attorney Frank Kerr and when he became judge was court reporter for him, Judge William Phillips and Judge Lawrence Lenz until retiring in 1974; she then was employed as a typesetter for Offset Preparation Services in Oregon until 1982. Loretta was an avid bowler all her life. Survived by sons, Dean (Mary) Bacon of Mt. Morris and Daryl Bacon of Oregon; daughters, Donita Wurster and Diane Schier, both of Mt. Morris; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great- grandchildren. Also predeceased by her parents, sister Florence Brown and granddaughter, Deena Ludwig. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday October 10 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor Michael Hoffman of Oregon Church of God officiating. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon. Visitation Sunday 5:00 - 7:00pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Ogle County Hospice or Samaritans Purse.org.
