Lawrence H. Burke died Tuesday Oct. 30, 2007 in his home. His life was a life of giving to all he knew with 70 years of love. He was born July 8, 1937 in Chicago, IL the son of Lawrence & Helen Kobbeman Burke. He served God, family, friends, and his country as an Air Force officer in Viet Nam. He was strong, quiet, and always ready to help and listen. He lived out his strong faith and actively served St. Mary's, Queen of Angles, and St. Rita's Catholic Churches. He worked at Borg Warner, Edelmann, and Eyelet all located in Dixon. He was raised in a family of six children, married Jeanie Hansen in Sterling on Nov. 17, 1962, and then raised his own family of four. Words cannot describe the contributions he made in his life He is survived by his wife, Jeanie; children, Karla, Laura, Julie, and Lawrence; grandchildren, Kevin, Andrea, Danielle, Lawrence, Larissa, Evelyn, George, Jeana, Elena, and Natalie; and brother and sisters, Jean, Kathleen, Barbara, Marta, and David. He was preceded in death by his father many years ago, his mother Helen Hermes two years ago, and grandchildren, Katherine, Abigail, and David Paul. Christian funeral mass will be held Friday Nov. 2, 2007 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary Catholic Church, 301 N. 4th St., Oregon with Rev. Richard Kramer and Rev. Jerry Kobbeman, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM, and Friday from 10:00-10:45 AM, in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon.
