LaMonte E. "Butch" Aurand, 70, of Oregon, died Wednesday June 15, 2011 in his home. He was born April 7, 1941 in Ogle County, IL the son of Emery & Fern Davis Aurand. He married Judith Ann Cultra DeVries in Las Vegas on August 20, 1993. Butch was a heavy equipment operator with Operators Union Local #150, formerly owned Byron Materials, and also started Butch Aurand Construction. He enjoyed watching western movies and was an avid Cubs & Bears fan. He was a member of the Oregon Masonic Lodge #420, Scottish Rite Masons, Valley of Freeport, and a 33 year member of Tabala Shrine. Survivors include his wife, Judith Ann; daughter, Tracie (Steven) White of Oregon; sons, Mark E. (Tonya Hendryx) Aurand and Jeff Aurand, both of Oregon; step-daughters, Carla (Tony) Benesh and Amy (Jeff Sartorius) Luepkes, both of Oregon; step-son, John (Cathy) DeVries of White Lake, MI; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evelyn. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 18, 2011 in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon, beginning with Masonic Rites at 10:00 AM, followed by services officiated by Candy Morris. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00--8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Ogle County Hospice or American Cancer Society.
