Chana - Helen A. Ackland, age 92, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at her home in Hillcrest. She was born Sept. 24, 1916 on the Canfield Farm near Chana the daughter to William and Emma (Canfield) Butler. She attended the Chana School and Rockford Business College. She formerly worked for Del Monte Foods in Rochelle in the Employment office and than was a secretary for the Engineers Dept. She also worked as a cook for the Chana School. Helen was married to John Haase prior to his death in 1957 and than to Robert Ackland who also preceded her in death. She was an active member of the Chana United Methodist Church including serving as church historian and the UMW of the church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 husbands, 1 grandson Greg Haase, 2 brothers; Paul and William Butler, and sister Marion Herrmann. Survived by 2 sons; Neil (Della) Haase of Farmer's Branch, Texas, and Paul (Betty) Haase of Tucson, Arizona, 4 grandchildren; Brent (Barbara) Haase, Loren (Kim) Haase, Jill (Ryan) Clark, and John Haase, 8 Great Grandchildren; Amanda, Amanda, Dalton, Cameron, Ashley, Jordan, Brandon, and Erin. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am, Thur. Oct. 30, 2008 at the Chana United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rich Fassig officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery near Chana. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Wed. evening at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St. Oregon, IL. 61061. Memorial Fund is for the Chana United Methodist Church
