OREGON - Gary W. Camling, 57, lifelong Oregon and Byron area resident, died suddenly Thursday January 5, 2012 in Rochelle Community Hospital. Gary was a loving father and grandfather to Leonardo and Vincent, the joy of his life. Born February 4, 1954 in Fort Smith, AR the son of Allen, Jr. and Marian (Kendel) Camling. He was a graduate of Byron High School in 1972 and Louisiana State University with a degree in civil engineering. Married to Lynell Obermiller January 20, 1982. Gary was a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) employed 20 years at McClure Engineering Associates, Inc. where he was corporate Vice President and the Rockford Division Manager. He was a member of Illinois Society of Professional Engineers/National Professional Engineers. Gary enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing guitar and spending time with his grandchildren. Survived by his former wife, Lynnel Ruth of Oregon; son Dane Anders Camling of Oregon; daughter Kristyn Rae (Anthony) Camling-DiFulvio of Oregon; mother Marian Camling-Carpenter of Oregon; grandchildren, Vincent Antonio Camling-DiFulvio and Leonardo Ray Camling-DiFulvio; brother Jeffry Camling of Oregon; nephew Nathan Rae (Joni) Camling; niece Amy (Brent) Camling-Wolber; several other nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Patricia Obermiller; brothers-in-law, Randy G. Obermiller and Brian E. Duke; sisters-in-law, Jill E Duke, Ellen K. Obermiller-Wendel, and Kari Sue (Joe) Obermiller-Schelling; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including Ray Handel of Florida. Predeceased by his father, Allen Camling, Jr. and father-in-law, Simon G. Obermiller. Services will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday January 10 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor Randy Snider of Byron First Baptist Church officiating. Visitation Monday 4:00-7:00pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
