Doris Grover Stevens, 83, of Oregon passed away Friday Sept. 4, 2009 in the Ogle County Hospice Serenity Home, Oregon after a short battle with cancer. She was born March 28, 1926 in Aurora, IL the daughter of George & Geneva Bird Miller. Doris was business manager for Grover's Garage for 24 years and worked 18 years for Woods Brothers Mfg. She was a vital member of Chana United Methodist Church and volunteered for Ogle County Hospice and Lifeline Food Pantry. She was also active in the VFW Auxiliary and acted as an election judge for several years. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and enjoyed luncheons with former co-workers, dominoes, card groups, and various prayer groups. She is survived by daughter, Susan (Christopher) Hager; sons, Phillip (Karen), Tobie (Alison), and Brian (Cathie); step-sons, Robert, Mike, David (Cindy), Clifford Stevens; special companion, Walt Spangler; grandchildren, Angela Grover, Julie Grover Reuschel, Todd Grover, Bradd Grover, Natalie Romano, Barrett Miller, Jena Grover, Jacob Grover, Tyler Hager, Bryan Stevens, Lisa Stevens, Chad Stevens, Nikki Stevens, Jennifer Medina, Mary Stevens, & Jamie Stevens; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Roe Grover and Lee Stevens, and step-son, Jeff Stevens. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Sept. 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Chana United Methodist Church with Pastor Rich Fassig and Rev. Timothy Mitchell, officiating. Luncheon will follow the funeral services with a private interment at a later date. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ogle County Hospice, Lifeline Food Pantry, or Chana UMC.
