David Alan Garnhart, 60, of Byron, died suddenly Tuesday, October, 16, 2012 due to injuries sustained in an auto accident. A life long Byron/Stillman area resident, he was born November 29, 1951 in Rockford, the son of Glenn and Velma (Hendershot) Garnhart. David was a 1970 graduate of Stillman Valley High School and a US Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He really enjoyed being a Boy Scouts Scoutmaster for Troop 140 for many years, as well as watching his grandsons play football for Byron. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. David was an active member of the Physically Challenged Bow Hunters of America and for many years a very active member of his church. Survived by children: Stephanie Hess of Loves Park, Cheryl (Joe) Shetley of Salem, Cindy (Todd) Triplett of Byron, Barb (Alan) Holaday of Oregon, Erica (Shawn) Ford of Byron, and their mother, Stevia Bennett of Byron; his parents, Glenn and Velma Garnhart of Stillman Valley; grandchildren: Courtney (Sam), Colton, Taylor, Caleb, Caden, Colyn, Raygen, Amelia and Micah; great grandchild, Parker; brothers: Steve (Gloria), Stan (Lois), Sam (Kim) and Tim (Judy); sister, Linda Garnhart; and also his best friend, Brian Bosecker. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Byron with Pastor Randy Snider officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial fund is established for Byron Boy Scout Troop 140 or The Physically Challenged Bow Hunters of America.
