Betty Jean Abel, 86, of Tekonsha went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.

Mrs. Abel was born April 21, 1928 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Lester and Dora (Meeks) Eisenhut. She graduated from Fort Wayne North Side High School in 1946. She worked for an attorney doing stenographic for two years after high school, and later also worked for Dale Dean Real Estate in Coldwater, doing secretarial work. She also worked at Federal Mogul in Coldwater for many years. She was married on March 15, 1954 in Tekonsha to Donald E. Abel. They have resided there ever since. Mrs. Abel was a loving mother and homemaker her for all her life.

Mrs. Abel was an active member of the Maple Grove Bible Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She and her husband have enjoyed spending the winters in Brownsville, Texas since their retirement.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald of Tekonsha; three sons, John Stiebeling of Auburn, Indiana, Mike (Cathy) Stiebeling of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Richard (Mary) Abel of Jackson; three daughters, Roberta "Bobby" (Charles) Stemaly of Tekonsha, Rosalee Abel-Blackburn of Tekonsha, and Cindy (Randy)Thompson of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Richard Abel; three sisters Dora Lemons, Jacquelyn Satterfield, and Marilyn Bricker; and a brother, Richard Eisenhut.

Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, 723 US 27 North, Marshall, Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 3-7pm with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 2pm on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha. Family will gather with friends following the committal services at the Kempf Funeral Home Reception Hall for a light lunch. Friends who wish to make a memorial contribution in Betty's memory are requested to Maple Grove Bible Church. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.
