Oregon - Alice "Genniel" Anderson, age 93, died Wed. Mar. 4, 2009 at her home near Oregon. She was born Sept. 19, 1915 on the Andrew Family Farm near Paynes Point the daughter to Benjamin H. and Alice (Andrew) Carpenter. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1932. Worked for Production Credit Association in Freeport. Genniel married Walter C. Anderson on Sept. 15, 1942 in Galena, IL. She was a lifelong Oregon area resident. She was a member of the Oregon Church of God where she had taught Sunday school, and volunteered for many of the church organizations. She was also charter member of the DAR Joseph Ogle Chapter. She loved to knit, sew, read, and paint. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, granddaughter Kristine Leather-Paris, and grandson Nicholas Anderson. Survived by her children; Denis D. (Barbara) Anderson of Rockford, Eve (James) Leather of Stillman Valley, and Beth Hall of Oregon, 2 sisters; Anne Rosalie Weyrauch of West Chicago, and Margaret Lois Cline of Oregon, 4 grandchildren; Stephen (Crystal) Anderson of St. Louis , MO, Mark (Jennifer) Leather of Oregon, Andee Leather of Stillman Valley, and Zachary Hall of Oregon, 6 Great grandchildren; Geoffrey and Missy Paris, Matthew and Jordan Leather, and Samantha and Sabrina Leather. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Fri., Mar. 6, 2009 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon with the Pastor Gordon Landry of the Flagg Center Church of God officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Paynes Point. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon to 2:00 pm on Friday. The family would like to especially thank Genniel's live in caregivers; Mark and Jennifer Leather. A memorial fund is established in her name.
