Lifelong Livingston-area resident, Annie Fern (Busby) Larkin, 94, passed away Friday morning, June 1, 2012, at Diamond K Lodge. Private burial took place in Shorthill Cemetery. Aa memorial reception was held Wednesday, June 6, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church fellowship hall, corner of Third and Lewis Streets, in Livingston.

Annie was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Livingston, one of 10 children of Gertrude (Roup) and Sidney Busby, and was raised on ranches in the Livingston area. She attended Park County schools and worked in the local area before marrying Donald Larkin on June 30, 1952, in Livingston.

The couple raised two daughters, Kathryn and Bonnie, on their ranch on Mission Creek. Annie and Donald continued to live there most of the time until Donald's death in 1994. Although Annie spent winters in Livingston after Donald's death, she still spent summers on the ranch until very recently. She moved to the Diamond K Lodge in February of this year.

From childhood, Annie loved music. Her family was musically talented and Annie loved to dance. She was also a wonderful storyteller and kept the oral history of the family alive through those stories. She loved nature, ranching, gardening and horseback riding, which she continued to do until the age of 86. Above all other things, Annie cared most for her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn (Allan) Christopherson of Nikiski, Alaska, and Bonnie Larkin of the family ranch on Mission Creek; her grandchildren Amber (Charles) Oberly and Ben Quigley of Mission Creek, Thi Christopherson of Nikiski, Alaska, and Kelly Christopherson of Fort Collins, Colo.; and her great-granddaughter Emmy Oberly of Mission Creek. She is also survived by brothers Willard Busby of Big Timber and Buck Busby of Lexington, Ky.; sisters Wanda Melin of Paradise Valley and Genevieve Dorvall of Whitehall; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her husband, Donald, Annie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Earnest, Vernon, Alvah and Harold Busby; and her sister Norma Lovely.
