"The Silver Tongued Preacher" The Reverend James A Duncan, D.D served as the fourth minister at the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, of Washington City, in 1853-54. He was born in Norfolk, Va., April 14, 1830. He was dedicated to God from birth by his father. In 1847, during a revival, he was converted, and was licensed to preach the next year. James A. Duncan was graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1849, and was immediately placed in charge of a society in Alexandria, which had just organized in connection with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
