    At a dance near Brownstown this morning, Everett Brown and Samuel Martin got
    into a quarrel, when Brown drew a knife and stabbed Martin in the abdomen.
    The wound, it is thought, will prove fatal.

    Samuel S. Martin Dies After Long Illness

    Samuel S. Martin, age eighty-three, a resident of Jackson county most of his life, died Tuesday night at Schneck Memorial Hospital. he had been ill for about three years wtih complications of diseases.

    Born on February 14, 1860, in this county, Mr. Martin was the son of John and Polly Ann Allman Martin. In 1883 he was married to Maggie Hovis, who preceded him in death. He remained in this county until about thirty years ago, when he moved to Jennings county.

    Recently he had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Roxie Manning, 251 South Vine street.

    A farmer until his illness, Mr Martin was a member of the Baptist Church. he was well known thoughout both Jackson and Jennings counties, and leaves many friends and relatives who mourn his passing.

    Surviving are four children, Mrs. Fred Robertson, and Mrs. Roxie manning, both of this city; Stanley Martin, of Bicknell; and Samuel Martin of Sanborn. Three sons and one daughter preceded him in death.

    Twenty-six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services was conducted at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon, January 21, from the Tower Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Moseley, of Uniontown, in charge. Burial in Riverview Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the Tower Funeral Home after noon Thursday.
