Roe Everett Bower

Roe was born on September 18, 1918 near Latona, IL the son of Merritt Everett and Ethel Chloie (Whitehurst) Bower. He married Lillian Adelaid Dewhirst on September 8, 1940 and she preceded him death on September 11, 2008 after 68 years together.
Roe was a lifelong farmer and a devoted member of the Central Christian Church in Newton.
Roe is survived by two sons, Dale (Sandy) Bower of Newton and Wayne (Beverly) Bower of Wheeler; brother, Gerald (Wanda) Bower of Wheeler; Sister, June (Ralph) Kidwell of Effingham; Sister-in-law, Arlene Bower of Newton; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Roe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Linda Kay Bower; great-grandson, Andrew William Bower; two brothers, Floyd and Kenneth; three sisters, Dorothy, LaVerne and Ruby.
Lillian Adelaid Dewhirst
Aged: 88.2 years
Lillian was born July 17, 1920, in Jasper County, the daughter of Orlando Thomas and Maggie (Tate) Dewhirst. She married Roe Bower Sept. 8, 1940, in Newton.
Lillian was a seamstress and worked at E.R. Moore in Newton for over 30 years. She was a member of Central Christian Church and enjoyed quilting and cooking. Her fondest things were her family and reading her Bible.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roe Bower of Newton; two sons, Dale (Sandy) Bower and Wayne (Beverly) Bower, both of Newton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Linda Kay Bower; great-grandson, Andrew William Bower; and two brothers, James and Eldon Dewhirst
