"FERNDALE "----Frank Johnson ---- one of the most known men in Eel River Valley passed away last Monday in his home north of Ferndale. John had for a long time suffered from liver and kidney diseases and the death did not come unexpected. Frank was born in Denmark in the year 1847. At the age 23 he came to America and was living in the eastern States until 1875. Then he went west and settled in the Humboldt district, where he lived the last 40 years. In the year 1885 he married Marie Jensen, who is surviving him. To the bereaved family are also three sons and some brothers and sisters in Denmark. Several years ago he retired from business. Johnson was a man of honour and a very popular man. He will be missed by all in the local community. The funeral took place Wednesday at Ferndale Cemetery under the I.O.O:F. Lodge's Auspices."
