  • Obituary, 18 MAY 1909: "'Wm. McGLATHERY DEAD'
    Wm. McGlathery, aged 63 years, died at Glencoe, this county, this morning at 4 o'clock.
    Mr. McGlathery was afflicted with bowel trouble and this with old age was the cause of his death.

    The deceased was a pioneer of this county and was long identified with the best Interests of his home community. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and was rated a good citizen by all who knew him.

    The funeral will take place tomorrow at 11 a. m. and the interment will be at the McGlathery cemetery.

    The deceased leaves three brothers: brothers: Coleman, of Lonesome Bend; Sam, of Glencoe, and Joe, of Florida. Mesdames Tom Burnett and Richard McCluney and Tom Farrar of Gadsden are sisters."

  • Obituary, 25 MAY 1909: "IN MEMORIUM' Wm. G. McGlathery died at his home at Glencoe, Ala., May 14, 1909, aged 63 years. He was born in Morgan county, Alabama, and moved to this section in early life. He was postmaster at Glencoe several years, as elder in the C. P. Church, and prominent in business circles. He is survived by his wife and three children, three brothers and six sisters. His parents are also living - Uncle Arbin, aged 86, and Aunt Polly, aged 82.
    He passed away calmly, serenely, hopefully, trustfully. He was buried at the Tillison cemetery, the funeral being conducted by the Rev. W. Lee of the C. P. church.
