According to his great  grandson, Benjamin Blake Minor who seems to have kept the family records, the father of Thomas was possibly John Minor who lived at Locust Grove, the family farm.

Alice was born about 1722 in St. Mary's Parish, Essex Co, Virginia, USA. Her father's land would fall in Caroline when it was created in 1728. He was then listed on a deed as "of St. Mary's, Caroline Co, Virginia" between 1 Oct 1747 and 5 Oct 1767, Thomas Minor & Alice purchased Spotsylvania land and created "Locust Grove". Alice (Thomas) Minor died shortly before 29 Apr 1801 at her home nearby Fredericksburg. (1) I, Alice Minor of Spotsylvania Co., Va. for love to James Tutt & 1 dollar, I give one bay mare called "Betsy Sampson" and her bay colt, 3 feather beds & furniture & a Pheaton & harness. 11 Aug 1800, [signed] Alice Minor Wit: James Bullock, John Gayle, Jr & Lucy Gayle Recorded in Spotsylvania 2 Dec 1800, Spotsylvania County, Virginia, Deeds, Deed Book P, pg 304 (microfilm photocopy). (2) Thomas Minor, appointed administrator of the estate of Alice Minor dec'd. - 29 Apr. 1801 - Spotsylvania County, Virginia Will Book, WB A3 - page 150 (microfilm #31,529).
