Sarah is the sister of my grandfather Wilfred Stephen James Swadling. She was a very formidable woman according to Dad's cousin Doreen (who met her and whose mother Rachel, Sarah's sister, was even scared of her).
Have you seen this: [ Windsor & Richmond Gazette, Saturday, January 13, 1900 ]
WINDSOR POLICE COURT Thursday Jan. 11 and
[Windsor & Richmond Gazette, Saturday, January 20, 1900]
Frederick Wellington, arrested at Emu Plains, was brought up, on remand from Penrith, on a charge of assaulting Sarah Elsie May Swadling with intent, at Catherine-street, Windsor, on 6th January.
I can send you the whole charge if you like. Don't know yet what the outcome was - Accused was committed to take his trial at Sydney on 12th February next. Bail was allowed, self in £40, and one surety in £40.
I'm also puzzled by this death:
NSWBDM #13833/1962
Sarah Elsie M Leeming - father James, mother Elizabeth Catherine at Liverpool
Thanks for the site and I would love to contact you further as I have quite a few pics etc. I think there's one your Hazel as a baby too.
Regards, Robyn
