Born in Limestone County, Ala. 24 Oct 1830, moved to Shelby County, Tenn. and married 22 Dec 1857, and went with her husband to Baton Rouge, La. S. B. Suratt, a noted divine of the Methodist Church, formerly of Louisiana, a son-in-law of the late Col. Flourney, of that State, died near Corinth, Miss., on the evening of the 8th instant. Mr. Suratt was well known and highly esteemed in this parish. He was a minister of eminent abilities, and was a son-in-law of the late Dr. A. Flournoy, of this parish. The numerous friends of Mr. Suratt here will be pained to hear of his demise." --"Shreveport Daily Standard," 14 Jul 1881, Thu, p. 4. Newspaper, 17 DEC 1905: "'WEDDINGS' ?. The wedding of Miss Mary Gibson Suratt to William Armour Cantrell was solemnized Thursday evening at the residence of Judge A. D. Land, Jr. in Sheveport, La. by Rev. Dr. Boggs of the Methodist church. The bride is the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. S. B. Suratt of Sheveport. Mr. Cantrell was reared in Little Rock, being the younger son of Dr. W. A. Cantrell, deceased, and wife, Mrs. Ellen H. Cantrell of this city. He resides now at Fort Worth, Tex., and is [a] traveling freight agent with the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad. On account of the critical illness of Mrs. Flourney, the bride's aunt, the wedding was very quiet, only immediate relatives of the bride, and D. H. Cantrell, of this city, brother of the groom, being present. Mr. and Mrs. Cantrell will make their home in Fort Worth, Tex." --Daily Arkansas Gazette, 17 Dec 1905, Sun, Page 18 ______________
