Obituary for Carl Franz Keefer
Rev. Carl Franz Keefer, age 71 of Lore City, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown. He was born on December 8, 1942 in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of the late John William Keefer and Violet Amanda (Anderson) Keefer.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was a minister, serving many churches in Guernsey County for over 30 years. He was also a general manager of The Living Word Outdoor Drama. He was a service manager and master mechanic and a member of the Lighthouse of Faith, the Byesville Rotary, the Antrim Legion Post 461, the Civil War Roundtable, and the NRA. Carl graduated from Wheeling High School and Liberty Bible Institute. He was a researcher, speaker and writer of short stories about the Civil War.
Carl is survived by: his wife, Vicki (Chase) Keefer, whom he married on December 21, 1996; a daughter Stephanie (Mike) McClain of Kissimmee, Florida; a son John (Tina Sauvageot) Keefer of Martins Ferry; two granddaughters, Keeley Anne Mayle and Amanda McClain; seven great grandchildren and a cousin Paula Stephan; and many members of the Chase family.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. The service will be at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Long officiating. Burial will follow in Antrim Community Cemetery where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at Riverside Manor / 1100 East State Street / Newcomerstown, Ohio 43832.
