Mary Ann Covert, our cousin in California says that the reason Philipcame to Texas was, " he had cosigned a loan for someone in S.C. and thisperson defaulted. He lost all of the family estates in his control andwas forced to move." Oliver married in Harrison County, Texas,1851. Thelast reference I have found for Philip R. Pearson is the reference in "The Republic of Texas Poll Tax List of 1846" Philip was in Upshur Countyper this list. Upshur is the expansion of Harrison County. Gilmer Is theCounty Seat of Upshur.

Pertaining to the estate of the deceased persons, present andpresiding His Honor _______ Haston, Chief justice

Estate of Phillip R. Pearson deceased, Jacob Lagrove, having filedhis application in this court representing Philip R. Pearson, received inhis lifetime sold or Exchanged to him the said petitioner the Conditionaland unconditional certificates of the said Phillip R. Pearson the sixhundred and forty acres of land and executed his binding obligation tothe title in fee simple to the same to said petitioner, that saidcertificates are located on land situated in Harrison County Texas andthe same on which said petitioner resides. That said Philip R. Pearson () his life in making the title as he promised and agreed to do by hissaid written obligation and praying that citations be given to Edward T.Pearson as the administrator of the Estate of the said Philip R. Pearsonto show cause AC and for an order to be made by this court and requiringtitle to be made to the terms and effect of said written obligations thesaid application and obligation filed comes on to be heard and answered.It appears that the said petitioner are
( )and that Edward T. Pearson as Administrator of Said Estate hasacknowledged service of said application waves the copy must meettogether with the service thereof, and desires the title to be ordered tobe made as prayed for in the said petition. It is therefore ordered, bythe court, that Edward T. Pearson as administrator of the estate ofPhillip R. Pearson deceased, by and is hereby required to execute titleto Jacob Lagrove, Senior, to Six hundred and Forty acres of land situatedin Harrison County Texas by virtue of the conditional and unconditionalland right certificate granted to the Phillip R. Pearson and that saidtitle be made according with the terms and effect of the workingobligation afore said.

I don't know whether any of these Willingham are mine or not. I'm stillstuck with first finding my Archibald C. Willingham b. 1786 GA or SC in1808 Columbia Co., GA when he bought land there. So far, I can't tie himto anyone prior to 1808. I'm still collecting everything WILLINGHAM andwas working on Fairfield Co., SC WILLINGHAM.
