  • Other, : Owen Hatfield-born 1819, In Floyd Co. Ky. was said to have
been an attorney in later years. In younger years he was a copper miner,
and farmed. He made barrels from the timber off his land. They were used
for shipping sorghum molasses via the tug boats of the Livisa Fork. He
at one time served as constable, and was shot in the thigh while
struggling with an outlaw. The bullet came out under his knee.At one
time he took up medicine which he practiced untill the state legislation
required a diploma from a medical collage. Then he studied law and
passed both thebar exam of Ky. and WV.
He had a two story house (double log) on his land.
This info is said to have come from Lundy Bruce Hatfield.
