William is styled as of Westover on the James River. He served on the frontier with George washington during the 1750's. William is styled as having a weakness for gambling & race horses which he kept in a fine stable. It is said that his shakey financial situation and the uprisings that were leading to open rebellion with the crown, contributed to his death by sucide. It is reported that William had nearly 4,000 volumes of books in all languages and faculties contained in 23 double presses of black walnut
