- Obituary, 30 JUN 1969: "'Mrs. Mattie Bruce'
Mrs. Mattie Emma Bruce, 93, of Piedmont, Rt 4, died Sunday at her residence after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Tuesday 1 p.m. from the Lakeview Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Akridge, The Rev. Charlie Bowen and the Rev. Cicero Peek officiating.
Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Mae Wright, Route 4, Piedmont, two sons, Samuel Monroe McGlathery and Dawson McGlathery of Gadsden, 14 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bruce was a native of George [sic.] and a resident of Etowah County most of her life.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers."
