Newspaper, : Mary Kathryn Grisso was born in Hannah, Oklahoma on July 6, 1916. She was the daughter of Neva Aydelott and Robert Massey McRay. Later the family moved to Ada and her school time was spent in Ada. She went to college at the University of Arkansas and graduated with a degree in Art. In 1943, Mary Kathryn married William Edward (Bill) Grisso, Jr. of Seminole, Oklahoma. Her beloved Bill preceded her in death in 1965. After the death of her husband Bill, Mary Kathryn assumed ownership and management of Arlington Memory Gardens, a large cemetery in Spencer, Oklahoma. Because of her earlier experience in art, she made the cemetery very beautiful and more pleasing to the eye. It was written up in various cemetery journals and Mary Kathryn spoke at one of the conventions of the National Cemetery Association. In 1981, Mary Kathryn sold Arlington Memory Gardens to nephew, Jack Staggs. With lots of time to do something, Mary Kathryn went to the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in a way to get exercise. It turned into a life passion for Mary Kathryn, and she danced and danced and danced. She went to contests in Washington, Las Vegas and Los Angeles and won competitions in fancy dresses, shoes and jewelry. As she got better, she graduated to dance competitions in Paris and London, and won her age group in most instances with her partner Forest Vance. Mary Kathryn traveled over the world, and she danced over the world. The best times of her life began when she started dancing. And wearing the fancy clothes to dance was right down her alley. She loved the challenge of dance competition. Mary Kathryn Grisso is survived by stepson, William Edward Grisso (and wife Judy). While she had no children of her own, she made Pauline Martin's (the sister of her husband Bill) children her own. She took them on trips and taught them how to eat and behave in fancy hotels. These nieces and nephews are all adults with families of their own, and all of them saw Aunt Katy as a part of their families. Those nieces and nephews are Betty Huckabay (and husband Gary), Susan Garland, Nancy Jarmon, Jack Staggs and Neal Martin (and his wife Debbie). Other nieces and nephews are Kelly Jeffries, Ann Van Buskirk (and her husband John), Wayne Grisso (and his wife Judy), and Lois Jean Hynes (and her husband Pat) of Torrance, California. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Pauline Martin, Evelyn Grisso, and Bonnie Lee Grisso. Lois Dixon McRay, her sister, and Neva Ray Chestnutt, her niece, pre-deceased Mary Kathryn.
