John Brown Brooke

Judge John Brown Brooke, second son of John Brown Brooke, Sr., and his wife, Araminta (Carroll) Brooke, was born near Upper Marlborough in 1826. Educated at Georgetown College, studied law and was admitted to practice at Upper Marlborough before he was twenty-one years of age. Like his father, be early entered the field of politics; was elected to the House of Delegates, and then to the State Senate.
In 1861 was elected president of the latter body, being the youngest man who had ever held that high position in Maryland.
