DIES IN FIRE; EX COSHOCTON MAN'S FATE
Mrs B J Lower of Mill Creek township, received a telegram from West Line, Mo Tuesday morning informing her of the tragic death of her brother, Noah Duncan, age 75, who was burned to death when his home was destoyed by fire Saturday night. Details of the tragedy have not been learned by local relatives.
Noah Duncan was born in Mill Creek township in 1831, and made his home in this county until the Civil War. Mr Duncan enlisted with the volunteers. At the close of the war Duncan was in Indiana and went from there to Missouri, where he has made his home. For many years he was a faithful member of the Baptist Church and a prosperous farmer of his neighborhood.
Mr Duncan leaves a widow and six children and the following brothers and sisters; Jonas, of Coshocton; Tobias and Paul of Chicago; Joe and Jesse of Kansas; Mrs B L Lower, Mill Creek; Mrs Wilbert Weatherwax, San Diego, Cal; Three brothers and four sisters are dead. The funeral service was held Saturday.

Jane E. Vanaman Duncan, daughter of Francis and Sarah Vanaman was born at Milville, New Jersey, on May 5, 1852, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cora Brown on September 29,
1931, at the age of 79 years. She was the youngest in a family of five children, all of whom have passed on before.

At age age of five years, she with her parents, three sisters and brother moved near Springfield, Ill, where she lived until she was seventeen years old. Her father having died as a Union soldier in the Civil War, she with her mother and brother came in a covered wagon to a farm near Louisburg, Kan.
She married Noah Duncan on March 6, 1873 when they established their home on a farm one mile southwest of West Line. Here their seven daughters were born. Luella, the oldest, died at the age of nine months, Mrs Ollie Rogers, Mrs Ida Duncan, Mrs Pauline Wilcox, Mrs Cora Brown, Mrs Nellie Davenport, Mrs Neva Davenport, all of whom survive her. She leaves eleven grandchildren one great grandson, and many relatives and friends to mourn her passing. 
Since the death of her husband on November 18, 1916, she has made her home with her children. She was a member of the Baptist Church in West Line at the time of her death.
