According to a letter written by James Dixon Roberts, dated May 12, 1872, he was the only surviving officer from this company during thie Battle of Pittsburg Landing, also known more commonly as the Battle of Shiloh fought in Kentucky on April 6-7, 1862.
Also, he was a lieutenant in the Mississippi Militia during the Mexican War.
