Harold Byron Brouse, 90, of 105 Shipton St. since 1972, entered into rest at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, where he had resided since March.
He was born April 20, 1918, in Northumberland, a son of the late Leonard C. and Emma (Walker) Brouse. On Dec. 11, 1944, in Northumberland, he married the former Helen I. Dietrich, who survives.
Harold was a 1936 graduate of Northumberland High School and served in the Army as a Technician from Oct. 20, 1942 until his honorable discharge Feb. 24, 1946.
He was employed as an assistant manager at Farm Bureau, Lewisburg, from 1941 to 1967. He then worked as a field auditor for Agway, Harrisburg, until he retired in 1980. After retirement, he was a school bus driver for the Mifflinburg Area School District.
Harold was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cowan, where he served on the church council for many years. Harold was also a member of the Circle B Hunting Camp, Montour Ridge, where he hunted his entire life.
He enjoyed gardening and woodworking at his home and constructed various woodworking items for the Packwood House, Lewisburg. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter, and trout fisherman.
Visitors may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Cowan Trinity Lutheran Church, 2599 Church Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 3, with the Rev. John D. Yost, and Vicar Theresa Langdon, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.1
