Harry Lane Sutton Passed Away March 20.
Harry Lane Sutton, son of James Buchanan and Sarah Isabelle Sutton, was born near Freeman, Mo, August 1, 1883, and passed away in Kansas City, Mo, March 20, 1955 at the age of 71 years, seven months and nineteen days. He spent most of his life farming in the Freeman community. He was united in marriage with Leona Culbreth and this home was blessed with one son. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Dollie, Elsie, Bessie and Sophia and two brothers, Ray James and Walter.
He is survived by the son, James of Peculiar; a step-daughter, Mrs Bettie Turney, California; three sisters, Mrs Kate Solberg, Mrs Tennie King and Mrs Florence Stout, Kansas City, Mo; three brothers, Frank Sutton, Texarkana, Ark and Earl Sutton, Lawndale, Calif, a daughter-in-law, Mrs James Sutton and four grandchildren, Jimmie, Sandra, Denny and Wayne Sutton.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm, March 23 in the Freeman Baptist Church in charge of Rev Joe Brewster, Jr. Mrs Travis Majors and Mrs John Ullery sang “Take My Hand Precious Lord” and “Good Night and Good Morning”, Mrs Arthur Noland, pianist. Casketbearers were Bud Sutton, Raymond Sutton, Frank Mackandaz, Bud Bogar, Ernest Lynn and Tom Marrs. Burial was in the Freeman Cemetery in charge of Atkinson Bros Harrisonville.-3-31-55.
