Fannie A. Hanks Safford , 79, 585 E. 2nd S., Provo, died this morning in Central Utah Convalescent Hospital in Orem of natural causes.
She was born Mar. 13, 1887, in Salem, a daughter of Joseph H. and Elmira Jackman Hanks. She married David Darwin Cluff and they were later divorced. She married Alonzo Martin Safford on Nov. 5, 1913.
Mrs. Safford was educated in the Salem and Spanish Fork schools. She moved to Provo in 1912.
A member of the LDS Church, she had served as a Primary president, for many years, and was also a Relief Society teacher and an active member of Camp Bonneville of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She served as an officer of the DUP.
An employee of the Utah State Hospital, she received a degree in practical nursing, She retired after 25 years of service.
Survivors include her husband, Provo; one son and one daughter, Darwin E. Cluff, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Lament (Thelma) Leavitt, Provo; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Harry Hanks, Red Feather Lake, Colo.
