  • Newspaper, : "As our readers now know, Eugene Wallace, of West Union, took an overdose of morphine Tuesday night of last week on returning from Hawkeye, and was found in the barn next morning in an unconscious condition. A doctor was immediately summoned who tried for several hours to restore him but with no avail. It was supposed some financial difficulty caused him to become deranged and desperate.

    He was a nephew of Mrs. S. B. Zeigler, and was at one time a cashier or teller in the National bank at West Union."

E. O. and the Wednesday Art club, member of the Methodist church for many years."

  • Newspaper, 09 JUL 1898: "'Supposed Bachelor Had a Wife.' Topeka, July 8.--Thomas K McGlathery of this city died last December, leaving considerable real estate. Prior to his death he lived alone and it was supposed that he was a bachelor, and his property passed into the possessions of his relatives. Edwin S. McGlathery, Allie M. McGlathery and Anna M. McGlathery.

    A woman named Caroline S. McGlathery appeared some time after McGlathery's death and brought suit for a portion of his property, alleging that she was the wife of the dead man and that she was entitled to half of his estate."
