Aged: 65 years
James served in the Revolutionary War as a Second Lieutenant in the Cumberland County Militia. He served with Washington's army when Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown. After the war ended, around 1784 or 1785, he and his brother Nathan moved to South Carolina. He inherited from his father James Glenn 350 acres of land in Cumberland Co. on the upper side of Great Guinea Creek, £35 current money, and a part of the stock of hogs and cattle.

Elizabeth Bowles

Birth1748

Death1831

Aged: 83 years
She outlived her husband many years. She apparently continued to reside at their homeplace in Chester County until 1827, when she moved into the home of her son Robert who lived near Fishdam in Union County. She died in Union County in 1831 and is buried in Fishdam Cemetery. She may have joined the Methodist Church with the rest of her family but she held daily family prayer services using her Church of England prayer book. Her grandson George W. Hill remembered her as a very proud old lady who always wore stiff black dresses with high white lace collars. She apparently was well-educated for her era.
