Joseph Byers wrote in his pension declaration that at age 17 he served with Washington at Valley Forge in the winter of 1777 by driving an ammunition wagon that belonged to his older brother Robert Byers. He applied for a Revolutionary War pension, but was denied for insufficient proof of service, Documentation exists proving his service.

Elizabeth Blair's first husband, Samuel Anderson most likely died in the Revolutionary War. She inherited 50 acres on Naked Creek from her brother, John Blair, by will 15th April, 1788.
