Dr. Frederic J. Ziegler, 75, Portland city physician for 46 years, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Providence Hospital. He had been ill for three weeks.
Dr. Ziegler, who had lived in Portland almost all his life, resided at 3003 N.E. 20th Avenue. At the time of his illness he was still in active practice.
From 1897 to 1901 he attended the University of Oregon where he starred in football. In 1905 he was graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa., and in 1906 was licensed to practice medicine in Oregon. From 1911 to 1922 he was a member of the University of Oregon medical school faculty in surgery.
He was a member of the Multnomah County Medical Society, American Medical Association, Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Kappa medical fraternity and Sigma Mu social fraternity and was a Captain in the Army Medical Corps.
Survivors include the widow, Anne E.; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Sauvain and Dr. Amelia Ziegler, a retired physician; a daughter-in-law and one grandchild.Funeral will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at J. P. Finley & Son.-The Oregonian, 23 Nov 1953
