Bishop David Seth Doggett D.D., our fourth minister, is one of the four ex-ministers of this church who became a bishop. He was born in Lancaster County, Virginia, in 1810, and was admitted on trial in the Virginia Conference in 1829. He was graduated from the University of Virginia, and served as Chaplain, University of Virginia, 1838-39; was pastor, First Methodist Church, Charlottesville, VA, 1839-40, and held a professorship at Randolph Macon College, 1842-45.
