Her marriage record to Charles Jones says she was 16 (born in 1935) but other records put her birth in 1936.  Her age was probably misrepresented on her marriage license since she would have just been 15 in 1951.

Barbara Roffey, 82, of Marne, Ohio died Sunday morning, August 12, 2018 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Born May 9, 1936 in Nashport, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Hazel (Reynolds) Swope. Mrs. Roffey was a retired employee of the Diebold Company of Hebron, Ohio. She was a member of the Old Stone Church of Christ and she enjoyed being with her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Bobbie (Dan Hafer) Grigsby of Newark and Beverly Roffey-Davis of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Amy (Amber Oker) Evans, Michael (Betty) Hughes, Ryan (Nodira) Hughes and Brian (Drew) Grigsby; seven great grandchildren, Kasyn, Koltyn, Gavin, Gio, Yusuf, Aiden and Ethan and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard E. “Dick” Roffey, whom she married July 15, 1959 and who died September 12, 2008; a daughter, Peggy Jones; two brothers, Richard and Joe Swope and three sisters, Betty Burkett, Donna June Swope and Kay Rakes.

Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the funeral home with Minister Chuck Horsley officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
