    - Retired from day to day operations months ago at his Coats Bend plantation
    - Successful businessman and farmer, among Etowah Co.'s wealthiest and prosperous citizens
    - in Battle Creek, MI for treatment of several weeks for an ailment of several months
    - died at 10:35 PM, 6 NOV 1906
    - survived by his widow, five sons and a daughter: Charles E., Herbert, Leonard, Warren, and Cleveland Meeks, Gadsden and Mrs. Hugh McGlathery
