In 1759, Elias Fort entered a pre-nuptial agreement with Mrs. Priscilla Barrow in which he granted her liberty to dispose of her estate in any manner she shall see fit. Acknowledge in open court, July 1763.

Elias FORT was born about 1700 in Surry County V irginia and died in 1766 in Halifax County, North Carolin a He was a son of John FORT (d 1725/6 in Surry County, VA ) and Elizabeth JORDAN, daughter of Richard JORDAN (d 1695) . Southside Virginia Families (Volume I, pp. 196-197) by Jo hn Bennett BODDIE, has this to say about the FORT family : "Elias FORT, born about 1700 in Surry, died in Halifax C ounty, North Carolina 1765; married first, Olive, daughte r of Elizabeth (LAncASTER) and Thomas PITMAN, secondly, Mrs . Priscilla BARROW by whom he had no children. He and hi s brothers, Thomas and Richard moved to North Carolina, fo r on December 20, 1730, Thomas and Richard FORT of North Ca rolina deeded WHITE 200 acres on Main Blackwater Swamp, gra nted to WALL and by him sold to John FORT, July 16, 1718 an d by John FORT's Will October 21, 1725, given to Thomas an d Richard FORT. Elias FORT, November 19, 1736, of North Ca rolina , deeded John EXUM of Isle of Wight, 100 acres of la nd on Round Hill Swamp in Isle of Wight. (Bk. 5, p. 71) . "Elias FORT made his will June 20, 1765, probated July 1 766, in Halifax."
