"In Memory of" lists Adaline Burrus as the wife of William Cahoon. I do not believe this is accurate and that the wife named Adaline Cahoon was Adaline Martha Saunderson. Here are my reasons:

1. Entries copied from Midyett Family Bible in the 1970's (family of Mary Ann Cahoon Midyett) sited the date of birth for Adaline Martha Saunderson as 01/01/1830 the exact date of birth on the tombstone of Adaline Cahoon. Could there have been another Adaline born the same day in Hyde County in 1830 that married a Cahoon?
2. The 1850 Census, taken on Aug 17, 1850, listed Anson E Gibbs, age 23, as a member of the William Cahoon household along with wife Adaline, age 20, and daughters Mary A, age 2, and Martha A., age 4/12. Adaline Martha Saunderson had a half brother named Anson E Gibbs who was born in 1826 and was 3 years older than she. Again, this came from the Midyett Family Bible entries, so why would Mary Ann Cahoon and her heirs save information about Adaline Saunderson, her half brother Anson E.Gibbs, their brothers and sisters and parents if they were not their ancestors?
3. My great great great grandmother was Mary Ann Cahoon (Midyett) born in abt 1848 or 1849. Her mother died when she was very young. Adaline died at age 22. Mary Ann Cahoon and William Wallace Midyett had a daughter named Adaline Narcissus Midyett and a daughter named Martha Ann Midyett. My guess is named after her mother and sister. Adaline Saunderson also had a sister named Martha Ann. There is another Mary Ann Cahoon born in 1848 or 1849 in the 1850 census for Hyde County, who was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Cahoon. They are who "In Memory OF" says are the parents of my Mary Ann Cahoon. There are no family names in later generations that come from any of that family.
4. If my theory, based on the above facts is correct, it would be understandable for mix ups to occur taking into account the early deaths of the women in this family. Adaline died in 1852 at age 22 and her husband died 6 years later. Mary A and Martha A were 4 and 2 at their Mother's death and 10 and 8 at their Father's (who was in his late 60'sby then). My ggggrandmother Mary Ann Cahoon Midyett died in 1879 at age 30.
