Sir George Brooke, 9th Lord Cobham (of Kent) was born circa 1497.2 He was the son of Thomas Brooke, 8th Lord Cobham (of Kent) and Dorothy Heydon.1 He married Anne Bray, daughter of Edmund Bray, 1st Lord Braye and Jane Halliwell, before 1526.3 He died on 29 September 1558.1 An inquest post mortem was held for his on 20 January 1558/59.3 His will (dated 13 January 1557/8) was probated on 6 December 1560.3 Sir George Brooke, 9th Lord Cobham (of Kent) was invested as a Knight in July 1523 by the Earl of Surrey, after the taking or Morlaix.2 He succeeded to the title of 9th Lord Cobham [E., 1313] in November 1529.1 In 1536 he was one of the 27 peers for the trial of Queen Anne Boleyn.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1546, against the Scots, under the Earl of Hertford.3 He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) on 24 April 1549.4 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 23 May 1550.3 He was accused of complicity in Sir Thomas Wyatt's rebellion, but was relaeased.1 He had large grants of land after the dissolution of the monasteries.1 He had eight other sons and three other daughters.3 Children of Sir George Brooke, 9th Lord Cobham (of Kent) and Anne Bray
